As a person well acquainted with Montessori education from the inside out, having worked in the administration and development of large facilities for 35 years, and someone who has been involved in real estate from almost every angle for over 40 years, I believe I am uniquely situated to help Montessori school owners in implementing a decision to sell a school.

I have a deep appreciation of the efforts involved in establishing, maintaining, bringing and keeping enrollment in a Montessori school. Most Montessori schools represent many years of sincere desire to bring the best education possible to children. That effort and those years of sacrifice deserve to be treated for what they are, and when it comes to a time of transition in ownership, being able to assist in returning something to an outgoing owner for that effort is a great honor and a privilege.

​Regardless of the situation, whether a school is profitable or not, whether the property is leased or owned, or whether the school is fully enrolled or not, finding an eager and qualified buyer is entirely possible. I believe a Montessori School represents not just an attractive business opportunity but also chance to be involved in one of the most rewarding careers an educator and business owner can find.

Evaluating your school is perhaps the most important part of the process. Potential enrollment and current enrollment both must be considered. It is important to point out to prospective buyers the benefits that may not seem as obvious on the surface, but mean greater financial rewards and security for the future. Making financing options available and helping to re-negotiate exiting leases is part of the process with which I can also assist. I also have extensive experience with 1031 exchanges if the sale of property should be involved with the school and an exchange of property is being considered. Of course, getting advice from your own CPA is always recommended.


As a transaction develops and moves forward, a wide range of professional resources must typically be drawn upon during the escrow process after a sales agreement is signed. I work with a team of professionals who provide the expertise needed to make for a smooth transaction. Whether that be escrow services, transaction coordination with the Department of Social Services, legal counsel, architectural services, surveying, or even technical and IT services, help is available to navigate the most complicated situations that sometimes come up.
